As many of you might know, we host a film series at the Main Library that focuses on dynamic directors, genres, and periods in film history, aiming to challenge and inspire our audiences.\u00a0 Because of the recent library closure we of course were not able to show our latest film, <\/span>Wendy and Lucy,<\/span><\/i> this month.\u00a0 But do not despair! As long as you have an active BAPL library card and are in our service area, films in our film series are free and available on streaming devices through Kanopy!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThis month\u2019s film, <\/span>Wendy and Lucy<\/span><\/i> (2008) continues our Spring 2020 series \u201cLiving on the Edge: Themes of Poverty in Recent American Independent Film.\u201d Superbly acted by Michelle Williams and featuring director <\/span>Kelly Reichardt\u2019s trademark minimalist style, the film focuses on the small but significant challenges that many people face every day in America – challenges that often lead to devastating choices.<\/span><\/p>\n
